How to Use the New Facebook Call to Action Button

You may have noticed a new feature on your Facebook page this week – a call to action button right on your cover photo.

In early December, Facebook rolled this option out to a few select pages to do some test runs. In the US, all pages now have this feature, and it will continue to be rolled out across this world this year.

And for the early testers – the results were pretty fantastic. According to Facebook, for online retailer Dollar Shave Club, using the call-to-action button helped boost its customer acquisition efforts: “Over the course of a three-week test, the Sign Up call-to-action button delivered a 2.5x higher conversion rate versus other comparable social placements aimed to drive new user acquisition.

For use on your business page, there are now 7 choices to use for your call to action, including:

  • Book Now
  • Contact Us
  • Use App
  • Play Game
  • Shop Now
  • Watch Video

Here’s how to use five of these Facebook call to action buttons to get new coaching leads for your business.

Book Now

One of my clients has already started using this feature, to promote her 1-on-1 branding services. When you click her link, you are taken to her client intake form, and then redirected to her calendar scheduling app, to book the sales call. This seamless process gets Facebook fans and visitors straight in to her contact database, and her sales funnel.

Contact Us

This is a great feature for local brick and mortar coaches, as well as other consultants and professionals. This could either link directly to the contact form on your website, or even to an app that dials your phone number for them.

Shop Now

Great for coaches who sell only digital products, or who sell supplements to support their clients. This is great if you want your users to be taken to the “store” page of your website.

This is the most popular button (for now), with many experts using it so encourage sign ups for their opt-in offers, newsletters, and more.

Watch Video

I’m super excited for coaches to use this one to launch their video training series and recorded webinar opt-ins. If you’re currently running a video series as your opt in offer, start using this Facebook call to action immediately!

This could also be a really great option for any coach who publishes a weekly or monthly YouTube show, as you could add the link to your channel.

As you’ll notice in some of the examples above, your cover photo is now even more important, as it needs to direct the viewer to the button. Mari and Peg probably have the best examples above, with arrows going straight to the Facebook call to action button. But, you should also still focus on the text in your cover photo to explain your offer, such as if you’re using the “Sign Up” button for promoting your ebook, or other download.

cta metricsTo track the performance of your Facebook call to action button, you’ll see the stats appear under the weekly metrics on the right side of your Facebook page (CTA Clicks). If your button isn’t performing well, try switching it out for another offer, or making sure your cover photo is in alignment with driving clicks. It’s a new feature, so some users won’t know to look for it at first. (And PS – the calls to action are also live on the mobile version of Facebook!)
